Stages & Strategies of Multicultural Organizational Development E-Book
We are excited to share with you our new e-book, "Stages & Strategies of Multicultural Organizational Development," which is a tool designed to inspire organizations to create workplaces that are rooted in values where everyone experiences belonging. This e-book will help guide you in leading your organization through the process of identifying what stage of development it is in currently.
This e-book is available for free with your purchase of one of our e-courses. If you have already purchased an e-course with us, please reach out to Judy at judy.lee@culturesconnecting.com to receive your copy.
Visit our e-course site to view three of the six foundational courses we have available: Microaggressions, Addressing Microaggressions, and Talking about Race. We are working hard at making the remaining three courses available to you in the near future!
Advanced Microaggressions for Leaders Workshop
January 23-24, 8:30-12:00pm PT / 11:30-3:00pm ET on Zoom
This strategy-based workshop is designed for supervisors, managers, and leaders who want to improve their ability to lead their staff through difficult conversations. Participants learn eight strategies for engaging staff when tension exists due to microaggressions and other types of comments that cause tension.
Participants will:
Increase their confidence in engaging staff in difficult conversations.
Learn strategies for facilitating group discussions.
Develop skills for engaging in deeper discourse when challenging situations arise.
Included with your workshop registration is our E-Course Microaggressions: What are they and How are they Harmful? taught by Dr. Hollins. The Advanced Leaders workshop does not teach what microaggressions are. To take full advantage this session, we encourage participants who have limited understanding of what microaggressions are to complete the e-course prior to the workshop.
Co-Founder Ilsa Govan and our colleague Tilman Smith will be presenting their What's Up with White Women workshop at the Equity in Education Coalition's Community Gathering & Luncheon on Tuesday, December 3rd at the Lynwood Event Center. Their presentation will take place during the morning and afternoon breakout sessions.
The Community Luncheon is a free gathering "designed to equip and empower you with the tools, knowledge, and strategies needed to advocate for our families, students, and democracy in the coming years."
The event commences at 8:00am with breakfast, and includes keynotes from Jane Elliott and Cheryl Brown Henderson, workshop/breakout sessions, and networking.
Making a Positive Impact in Medicine with Portraits of Humanity
"Even at the appointment where the doctor was giving a terminal diagnosis to my wife and I, he was looking at this watch. He was trying to squeeze that in to a 20 minute appointment."
-Evans Wilson, Interviewed by Chelsea Ng
Feeling rushed and unheard by our medical providers when seeking care can be discouraging and is something that many of us have experienced. When someone with a chronic illness/disability regularly experiences this, the impact can be profound and lead to poor health outcomes. Portraits of Humanity (PoH), a student-led project founded in 2021 out of University of Washington, aims to address this through third person narrative and art.
I sat down with co-founders Chelsea Ng and Amy Duong, along with current president Jeanne Nguyen, to talk about their passion project and what they hope to achieve. Visit the link below to to learn about this project and the positive impact they are trying to make in patient-doctor relationships.
PoH is actively looking for participants. If you are a person living with a chronic illness/disability and would like to contribute to this project, please contact Portraits of Humanity at portraitsofhumanity.poh@gmail.com. The project is open to everyone, and they especially encourage PoC to participate.
