National Hispanic Heritage Month commences on September 15th through October 15th and celebrates the histories, cultures and contributions of Americans of Spanish, Mexican, Caribbean and Central and South American ancestry.
In last year's September newsletter issue, we spoke of the phrase "Hispanic" and the controversy surrounding it as a broad term that artificially categorizes together the complex identities of millions of people. Commonly used alternative phrases include Latino/a, Latinx, and Latine. To read last year's post, as well as articles, speaking to the complexity of these identities, visit our blog, Hispanic Heritage Month Starts Today.

If you missed our interview from March with the fascinating Hank Olguin, who dedicated his life to combatting Latine stereotypes in the media, read it on our blog here.
