Disability Pride Month was created to commemorate the anniversary of the landmark 1990 Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). Advocacy organization The Arc set the theme "We Want a Life Like Yours" this year to "reflect the disability community's dreams for life experiences that they are too often denied."
